    I had a overdose experience at 13, and it felt like my mind was wide awake but my body was dead... at 25 I'm diagnosed with parkinsons... levodopa is the only way I can work now and apparently adhd med creates a 400% increase in developing parkinsons...felt like my anxiety was just my brain muscles tensing up.. anyone relate?

    My stepson has undiagnosed schizophrenia..He cannot have a normal conversation with anyone. He talks to himself and people with names who aren't there. He laughs uncontrollably at his hallucinations or gets extremely fixated on his delusional, extremely confused and anxious, violent and aggressive. He regularly assaults his teachers at school, his classmates and his mother and is constantly destroying things at home especially with knives ( He's obsessed with knives). He's on the iPad at his mother's 24/7 and barely eats or sleeps. He started high school this year and is already struggling at school.His mother is in complete denial and has him on antipsychotics for Autism, but the meds have only made him worse and more hallucinating and violent.

    I want to thank you very much for this incredibly well thought out explanation of my life experiences with ADHD, and I am sure many others. I wrote a poem about this where I said "When the teachers wanted to dope me with drugs, my mother said no and showered me with hugs". I dropped out of high school with a .4 GPA, yet I have gone on to open several businesses, I am making a movie and just finished writing my first book. In the book I made sure to tell other like me that the system was wrong about them. It is not them who was broken, it was the system.

    Wow. For years, decades (I am a 69 year young woman) I have said that I have a Ferrari in my brain that is very high maintenance and when it is in the shop, we are down for a good long time! I just did not realize that it had bicycle brakes! What a great analogy! Thank you soooo much! I am creative, entrepreneurial because I do not work well with others, can easily hyper focus, talk to much, interrupt and over think and more. I love me though! I see the bright side. Oh, and I must move. I feel like I am dying if I have to sit still for a long time, particularly if there is nothing of interest to occupy my mind.

    I respect this man and harbor no ill feelings... but I don't see how many people with Tourettes are okay with the whole redirection therapy thing. My mom had been trying to teach me that all my teenage years and still at 22 I accidentally slip into that mindset when I'm around people. It's mentally stressful to redirect, to me it's the same as suppressing. I view it as "Torturing myself in a large quantity right now, to try to prevent the smaller tortures throughout the day" because yes it could help me prevent my tics in the future, it also it's extremely taxing on me physically, mentally, and in a lot of cases emotionally. Again I mean no disrespect but I'm not sure how to understand this way of thinking. I also have Autism and find it hard to put myself into other ways of thinking sometimes and if anyone would like to try to help me understand this please feel welcomed to, but also don't feel obligated to of course

    • @joevaghn457
      @joevaghn457 День тому

      I’d be that your last paragraph explains why you may not get it. I have Tourette’s, I’m not autistic, and honestly don’t see a problem. Redirection is a technically correct way to put it. Dunno why you think of “torturing oneself” cos I never had that pop up once in my mind lol. It’s honestly not worth really thinking too much about. Plus, it helps foster neural circuits that are more useful in the long run.

    Sometimes it’s not even us not believing in ourselves. Sometimes is people around us, treating us like shit because they can’t stand us. That’s what makes us feel miserable, the people around us (the ones who don’t believe in our potential, the ones who don’t have any patience for our behaviour, etc).

    Adults coercing children to take mindaltering drugs with effects they aren't fully aware of and can't properly convey to their caretakers, for years, without even once trying those medications themselves. All so they shut up and pay attention in school and do their homework. It's horrible what people will do to each other without thinking just because they trust the medical profession.

    What if... What if what you get addicted to isn't the pill... Like yeah, the feeling of focus and purpose could be addicting, I guarantee that, and the peace and quiet of being able to relax without feeling guilt would be welcome... But what if you realize people just like you more on meds? What if you're finally the person they wanted you to be for so long that now, even if it stings a bit, you don't want to go back because now somebody's genuinely proud of you? Because now you meet expectations? Because you're more competent and seem smarter? Because you're better? How could you not get addicted to being appreciated more? How do you fight THAT...?

    Kids can become mean in their life only depend on their mental health and how they’re raised. Although mental health doesn’t make them good or evil, but if you spot a criminal or others who do something wrong, this is a sign that he/she is raised without authoritative parenting. Ironically, when kids imagine a monster that came out of their closet or a bed scares or kills a child that misbehave, the only monster itself only came from their parents that instead created another monster of their own.
